BS Fuji’s “Japan’s Most Ordinary and Delicious Ueno Shokudo by dancyu,” as a spin-off program project, will start selling an original ekiben called “Saa Saa Kitamae Kyo Wakasa Gozen” filled with local dishes from the Reinan region of Fukui Prefecture on July 20, starting at 10:00.

The ekiben were developed by Hiroo Ueno, publisher of the cooking magazine “dancyu,” and actor Seiji Rokkaku in a special program that spotlights local train lines with rich regional flavor and creates ekiben filled with the culinary charms of the train lines. This is the second installment of the program, titled “Ueno Shokudo: Hometown Ekiben Making Trip.

The setting was the JR Obama Line, where the Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet train extension opened in March. With the cooperation of Fukui Prefecture and Tsuruga City’s “Sengokuen,” the ekiben was created to be a “snack with sake,” including sauced pork cutlet, Tsuruga puffer fish stew, heshiko potato salad, ume vinegar rice with oborokombu, and grilled mackerel sushi. The title and illustration on the package were drawn by Rokkaku-san.

Mr. Ueno will be in charge of the sales, which will be limited to 50 servings at “Orpark” (1-1-19 Kannawa-cho, Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture), an exchange facility adjacent to JR Tsuruga Station, the first station on the Obama Line. The special program will be broadcast nationwide on July 27 at 2:00 p.m.
