Zenrin has released “sunny/rainy weather folding umbrella,” “2-way tote & shoulder bag,” “clothing pouch,” and “3-row pouch” from Map Design GALLERY, a stationery and sundry goods brand designed with maps. The products will be available at the official online store and at various stores.
This folding umbrella is lightweight while providing 99.99% light shading. It is decorated with a lattice pattern inspired by the latitude and longitude of a map, a map of 14 Japanese cities, and a map of Japan, with a design of a railroad network in white. The inside is black to absorb the shine from the ground.
Three items of travel goods are designed with three cities of Japan’s three new major nightscapes.
The three travel items are scheduled to go on sale on July 26. Under the theme of “enjoying the depth of the map,” they are designed with three cities selected as one of the three new major nightscapes of Japan.
The maps of “Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture” with its dragon-like strait topography, “Sapporo City, Hokkaido” with its contour lines and road map next to each other, and “Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture” with its buildings along the topography are superimposed.
The dark colors are said to represent a night view seen from the sky, with contour lines, roads, and house shapes colored in the image of light.
