Tokaido Shinkansen suspended between Hamamatsu and Nagoya. Effect of derailment of a maintenance car.

Posted on 2024-07-222024-09-15 by Editor in Chief

JR Tokai has suspended operations of the Tokaido Shinkansen between Hamamatsu and Nagoya Stations (as of 10:50 on July 22). This is due to the derailment of a maintenance car between Toyohashi and Mikawa-Anjo Stations.

Due to the derailment, approximately two trains per hour will be operated stopping at each station between Tokyo Station and Hamamatsu Station and between Nagoya Station and Shin-Osaka Station. The “Kodama” trains starting from Tokyo Station will operate until Hamamatsu Station, and the “Hikari” and “Kodama” trains starting from Shin-Osaka Station will operate until Nagoya Station.

The Tokaido Shinkansen and Sanyo Shinkansen have stopped direct service, and the Sanyo Shinkansen has switched to turnaround service at Shin-Osaka Station.

The company encourages those who wish to use the suspended sections to refrain from coming to stations until they are notified that service will resume on all lines.
