NEXCO East Japan has closed the up and down lines of the Nihonkai-Tohoku Expressway from the Shonai Airport IC to the Sakata IC, the up and down lines of the Sakata IC to the Tsuruoka JCT, and the up and down lines of the Yamagata Expressway from the Tsuruoka JCT to the Tsuruoka IC due to heavy rain in the Tohoku region.
In addition, as of now (as of 4:40 p.m.), the upper and lower lanes of the Omagari IC to Yokote IC on the Akita Expressway are closed due to the accident, but the company said it may continue to close this section of road depending on future rainfall conditions.
