Sumida River Fireworks Display” information summary from 7pm today. Note that there are places where even pedestrians cannot enter!

The 47th Sumida River Fireworks Festival will be held today. The following is a summary of the event, traffic restrictions on roads, and increased train service.

Tokyo Metro Ginza Line will increase trains in the Asakusa direction from 2:00 p.m. to the time of the event, and in the Shibuya direction from 7:00 p.m. to around 10:00 p.m. every 2 to 3 minutes.

No-go zones for vehicles and pedestrians and closed to traffic on the Metropolitan Highway

Due to the fireworks display, there are areas where not only vehicles but also pedestrians are prohibited. Please note that parks and other areas around the venue are also off-limits.

No pedestrian and vehicular traffic zone around the venue from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m:

Parks and riverside areas such as Tsutsumidori Park, Copperbottom Park, baseball fields, Riverside Sports Center, etc.

All day or until the next morning:

Sumida Park, Shinsui Terrace, Sakurabashi Deck Square

Other:

Sakura Bridge (13:00-21:30), Azumabashi Bridge – part of Tobu Tetsubashi Bridge (14:30-22:00), Sumida Ward Office Uruoi Hiroba area (15:00-23:00)

No vehicular traffic zone 18:00-21:30 (primary regulation):

Asakusabashi Station, Ryogoku Station, Tokyo Sky Tree Station, Hikifune Station, Asakusa Station, general roads around Sensoji Temple

21:30-22:00 (secondary regulation):

Basha-dori and Edo-dori around Asakusa Station, Azumabashi, Komagatabashi, Kototoi-bashi

Metropolitan Expressway No. 6 Mukojima Route, up and down, vehicular closure zone, around 18:00-21:00:

Komagata and Mukojima Exit Closed

Komagata PA Closed

6:40pm – 8:45pm:

Horikiri JCT – Ryogoku JCT (up line)

Ryogoku JCT – Tsutsumidori Exit (off-road)

Tsutsumidori Exit (up and down line)

Detour:

Kannana-dori, Okubashi-dori, Shinobazu-dori, Eitai-dori, Shin-ohashi-dori
