Mercury, a hands-on facility with a collection of things with unknown names, such as that thing that tests your eyesight and the one that puts curry roux in it.

Mercari will hold the “Things with Unknown Names Exhibition,” an interactive facility featuring everyday objects with unknown names, at UNKNOWN HARAJUKU (6-5-3 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) from August 20 to 28. Admission is free.

The exhibition explains and displays the official names, origins, and histories of items whose names are not widely recognized, such as the soy sauce jug that comes with lunch boxes, tools used to drain water from ramen noodles, containers for curry roux, and instruments used to test eyesight.

Also, “Lan Charm Scooping,” in which “Lan Charms,” fish-shaped soy sauce jugs that resemble goldfish scooping, swim in the water, will be held. If you succeed, you can try to win a giant gacha, which offers an original can badge.

The special website also introduces items with unknown names (less well-known items) that are sold on Mercury.
