Chef and cookery researcher Hirofumi Mizushima is offering pre-orders of his ergonomically shaped kitchen knife “Tenohira Hochou,” which is ideal for use. The order will be accepted from 10:00 a.m. on July 30, 2012.
The shape of the handle is designed so that the handle is short and cannot be gripped using the little finger, providing an ideal grip that prevents unnecessary force. In addition, the shape of the knife is designed to guide the user to use the curve of the blade to cut, resulting in a clean cross-section.
The specially shaped handle is made of mahogany wood and is finished one by one by craftsmen.
The product is manufactured in Seki City, one of the world’s three major cutlery production centers, and the blade is made of stainless steel, which is also used for medical scalpels.
It can also be carried by using the special sheath included in the gift set. The overall length is 21.7 cm, the blade length is approximately 15.3 cm, and the weight is approximately 154 g.
The scheduled general sales price is 20,900 yen. Pre-orders include a 15% discount (17,765 yen) super-early bird discount, and products are scheduled to ship from March 2025. Paracord straps in all five colors are also available as an option for 550 yen.
