Navitime Offers Free Function to Show Areas Likely to be Traffic Congested by Fireworks Festivals and Festivals

Posted on 2024-08-012024-09-26 by Editor in Chief

On August 1, NAVITIME Japan began offering a free “Event Traffic Jam Forecast” function on its “Traffic Jam Information Map by NAVITIME” and “NAVITIME Drive Supporter,” which displays on a map areas where traffic congestion is expected around fireworks displays and festival sites.

The system can check in advance the predicted traffic congestion areas on surrounding roads during the event and suggest routes to avoid them. The system also contributes to traffic dispersion near the venue by supporting off-peak driving and avoiding traffic congestion by moving during unoccupied times.

In the “Traffic Jam Information Map by NAVITIME,” pressing the “Event” button in the general tab displays the date and location of fireworks displays and festivals and the “Event Traffic Jam Forecast” area on the map using 3DCG.

Tapping on the “Event Traffic Forecast” area displayed, detailed event information such as the number of people and parking availability in a given year and an hourly “Traffic Forecast Graph” are displayed, so you can see which times of the day are busier.

In “NAVITIME Drive Supporter,” when the destination of a route search is in an event traffic congestion forecast area, a banner indicating that an event will be held near the destination on the same day is displayed on the search results screen. Tapping the banner displays the “Event Traffic Forecast” area, and tapping “Check Traffic Forecast” displays a “Traffic Forecast Graph” for each hour.

Fireworks displays can also be checked for the number of launches and other detailed information about the event.

It also suggests “park-and-ride” routes to avoid traffic congestion around the destination by transferring to a train. The system provides car routes to the station, selected based on the number of parking spaces available and the low cost of parking near the station, and train + walking routes from the station to the destination.
