Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for collaboration and cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia on August 1. The MOU was signed at JICA Headquarters in Tokyo between Ms. Aryanthi Anaya, Deputy Director General and Director General of Human Resources for Health of the Ministry of Health (MOH) of the Republic of Indonesia, and Ms. Atsuko Kamei, Director of Human Development Division of JICA.
This MOU aims to develop medical specialists and medical personnel involved in medical care for non-communicable diseases under cost-sharing and cooperation between the Indonesian Ministry of Health and JICA, in order to strengthen measures against the increasing number of non-communicable diseases in Indonesia, and to realize the provision of high-quality, advanced medical care in the country.
Over the years, JICA has provided health cooperation in Indonesia to resolve issues such as maternal and child health and infectious diseases. In recent years, demand for medical services for non-communicable diseases such as stroke and cancer has been increasing in Indonesia. Based on this MOU, JICA will further promote the development of human resources with advanced expertise in each disease area and strengthen measures against non-communicable diseases, while deepening the existing collaborative relationship.
