Kay Uno, a custom-made jewelry company, has launched “Hosekibako/Cloisonne Jewelry Box” jewelry cases (462,000 yen each) with designs of Disney characters.
There are three designs. The motifs are based on Disney’s “101 Doggies,” “Bambi,” and “Wan Wan Monogatari. Cloisonne enamel artist Takako Kikuchi used traditional techniques to create a beautiful world that looks as if it were cut from a scene in a movie.
Hosekibako / Cloisonne Jewel Box – 101 Dalmatians” features a design of puppies frolicking happily. The white base is brightly finished with pale pink, blue, and yellow. There is also a Dalmatian pattern on the side.
Hosekibako / Cloisonne Jewel Box -Bambi-” features a scene that looks like a scene from a movie. It depicts Bambi and Tonsuke sitting together and Bambi enjoying Tonsuke’s chatting. The design was drawn from the flower garden scene in the movie.
Hosekibako/Cloisonne Jewel Box -Lady and the Tramp-” recreates a romantic spaghetti scene. You can almost hear the song “Bella Notte”. The side design is a wallpaper motif of Lady’s house, a maniacal pattern choice.
