DogHub Hakone Sengokuhara (928-15 Sengokuhara, Hakone-cho, Ashigarashita-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture) opened the first pet hotel and “OMUSUBI & SOUP CAFE” for dogs in Hakone on July 27.
The dog hotel is available for both overnight use (from 7,700 yen per night) and temporary care (5,500 yen for 8 hours, 3,300 yen for 4 hours, and 1,100 yen for 1 hour). An artificial grass dog run with a covered area is also available. The facility is staffed 24 hours a day, and the dogs are kept in completely private rooms surrounded by walls.
OMUSUBI & SOUP CAFE sells mainly omusubi for take-out and two types of soup (beef rib soup and chicken soup). Seats are also available for use with dogs.
DogHub suggests that people use the service when staying at hotels and inns that do not allow pets, when stopping by museums and restaurants, or when tired from driving and want to take a break or have a snack.
