On this trip, I was able to enjoy all the food I had hoped to visit on my first trip to Hawaii. I would like to introduce some restaurants that I had heard of before visiting Hawaii, as well as some restaurants that have branches in Japan.
In addition, toppings can be added as an option. This time, we chose the tropical fruit flavors of water melon, mango, and guava, topped with a sticky shiratama. The shaved ice is more substantial than it looks because it is solidified, and as it melts, it mixes with the syrup and becomes sweeter, so the simple shiratama between the toppings made it even tastier.
Matsumoto Shave Ice is a long-established shaved ice store in Haleiwa Town, established in 1951. There are 40 kinds of syrups to pour over the round ice, and you can choose up to three flavors. You may have seen the “Rainbow,” a combination of strawberry, lemon, and pineapple, on social networking sites or in the media.
Heavenly’s Island Lifestyle
We visited Heavenly’s Island Lifestyle for lunch on the third day, in the heart of Waikiki. The main restaurant in Waikiki opened in September 2014, and they offer dishes made with organic Hawaiian ingredients.
Based on the concept of “all-day breakfast,” the restaurant offers a healthy Hawaiian breakfast no matter what time of day you visit. The menu includes acai bowls, mixed berry French toast, pho, and other items that are perfect for when you want to sandwich a healthy meal between trips to …….
The standard loco moco is also called “Heavenly Organic Veggie & Bean Loco Moco,” and its brightly colored appearance is impressive. When one hears the word “loco moco,” one usually thinks of white rice topped with a hamburger steak, a fried egg, and gravy or demi-glace sauce. However, Heavenly’s loco moco is unique in that it is made with cereal rice and covered with teriyaki sauce. With organic vegetables, the texture of the rice cereal, and a juicy hamburger steak made with 100% Hawaiian beef, it is a dish that can be enjoyed while taking a break from all the gourmet food you have enjoyed in Hawaii.
The eggs benedict with plenty of vegetables was both filling and light without being too heavy. It was the kind of dish that makes you think, “I want to have this for breakfast in Japan, too! The egg is melt-in-your-mouth, and the rich sauce and the vegetables are slightly sweet, making it a refreshing meal.
Acai bowls are probably one of the most popular breakfast items in Hawaii. This time we were served two types: the “Hawaiian Fruit” and “Coconut Bowl. The former allows you to enjoy Hawaiian fruits such as mangoes and pineapples to the fullest, so it was a great menu for the end of the trip when you felt like you still wanted to enjoy more fruits in Hawaii. I was happy to have this menu at the end of my trip when I felt that I still wanted to enjoy Hawaiian fruits. The coconut bowl is also very impressive, and is served in a bowl of broken coconuts. This is another enjoyable dish with a visual appeal that can only be found at Heavenly.
Coincidentally, the author once visited the restaurant in Daikanyama, Tokyo. I remember being impressed by the use of cereal rice in the loco moco. Looking back after having experienced dining in Waikiki, there are many differences, such as the use of Japanese black beef in the loco moco hamburger steak, but the restaurant seemed to have an atmosphere similar to that of Waikiki. I would like to visit again when I miss my trip to Hawaii because I can feel the taste and atmosphere of Hawaii even in Tokyo.
