Nippon Travel Agency launches environmentally friendly travel products “GREEN JOURNEY. The first products are Aso and Ise-Shima, aiming to reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to local communities.

Nippon Travel Agency has launched a travel product, “GREEN JOURNEY.

This is the background for the establishment of the Green Journey Promotion Committee by 14 companies, including Nippon Travel Agency, Nissan Motor, and JR Group, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment and Tohoku University. The committee believes that the reason why environmentally friendly tours have not become common in Japan is that they lack the inherent enjoyment of travel, and promotes “environmentally friendly, community-pleasing, and fun travel.

GREEN JOURNEY” aims to reduce CO2 emissions as a real number by using environmentally friendly means of transportation and accommodations. As an optional plan, meals using local ingredients and “CONNECT PROGRAM” to participate in local industries are also offered, and contributing to the local community through travel is one of the objectives. A digital stamp rally utilizing LINE is being conducted at lodging and tourist facilities and restaurants in the area, and visitors who collect the stamps will be entered into a drawing to win a present.

The two new plans, the 3-day/2-night “GREEN JOURNEY Kumamoto Aso” and the 2-day/1-night “Ise-Shima,” will go on sale from September 27, with prices starting at 36,700 yen for the “Kumamoto Aso” plan (departure from Hakata) and 25,200 yen for the “Ise-Shima” plan (departure from Nagoya). Both plans are unaccompanied by a tour guide, and users set their own itineraries, including optional extras. Applications can be made at stores or through a dedicated form on the website.
