JR East will introduce a new type of platform door, the “slit frame platform door,” in the second half of FY2024.
The slits in the door pockets and doors will reduce the effect of wind pressure by about 40% compared to conventional platform doors, leading to simplification of platform reinforcement work, etc. The installation structure and control system are compatible with those of the conventional type, and the adoption of parts and mechanisms with excellent maintainability is also expected to improve the efficiency of installation and maintenance.
In FY2024, the system will be installed at the Nambu Line’s Kabugawara and Noborito Stations (Line 2), and will be introduced successively thereafter.
