The October 2024 issue of Travel and Railroading magazine is renewed, going back to its roots with a new look. The special feature is a trip to visit wooden station buildings across Japan.

On August 21, Ikaros Shuppan released the October 2024 issue of “Tabi to Railways 2024,” a 128-page A4-size book priced at 1,485 yen.

This is the first issue of the magazine’s renewal. Returning to its origins as “Travel and Railways,” the magazine is packed with articles on rail travel, tickets, sales systems, and other topics related to rail travel.

The special feature is a journey through towns that retain the atmosphere of olden times while visiting wooden station buildings that remain throughout Japan. In the opening feature, we explore the Nagaragawa Railway line (Gifu Prefecture), where nostalgic townscapes remain, and the Kominato Railway (Chiba Prefecture), where you can enjoy a trip to Satoyama and wooden station buildings not far from the Tokyo metropolitan area. The feature also explores the details of Ashio Station on the Watarase Gorge Railway, which still retains the wooden station buildings of the Japanese National Railways (JNR).
