The Okinawa Churashima Foundation has released basque shirts and hats from its HELLY HANSEN series, which are original aquarium products.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Okinawa International Maritime Exposition in 2025, icons such as the official logo and the Expo Mirai Car, as well as illustrations featuring nature, such as the Yaeyama palm and the Noguchi woodpecker, were designed.
Both the basque shirt and hat are water-repellent, UV-cut, seawater-resistant, and chlorine-resistant, making them suitable for ocean and pool scenes. They are available in two colors: ivory and old blue, which is inspired by the “Ai-type” of Bingata, a traditional Okinawan handicraft.
The material used is 100% recycled nylon made from fishing nets that have become industrial waste, and the company says it has also taken into consideration the reduction of environmental burdens.
It will be sold at the “Blue Manta” store in the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium and the “Umichura” antenna store, as well as at the official online store of the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium and Shurijo Park.
