Workman, rated by function level in terms of rain resistance/warmth resistance/stretch for easier selection. Many adult casual men’s products

Posted on 2024-08-262024-10-04 by Editor in Chief

On August 26, Workman held a presentation of new products for fall/winter 2024 in Tokyo. Under the title of “Functional Ratings,” the company announced that it will make it easier to select a product by rating its functional level.

According to Tetsuo Tsuchiya, the company’s senior managing director, the wears are equipped with pictograms that indicate the functions they have, and 260 pictograms exist (at the time of the interview). However, the pictograms only indicate the presence or absence of functions, making it difficult for customers to select a product.

Therefore, the company plans to provide ratings to those who purchase products for their functionality so that they will be able to understand the level of functionality. For example, the rain resistance level is rated from 1 to 5 for water pressure resistance, moisture permeability, and water repellency, and the overall rating is Grade 3 for light rain, 4 for heavy rain, and 5 for heavy rain.

Mr. Tsuchiya said that there are advantages and disadvantages, such as lightweight, breathable, and cool for light rain, and hot and heavy for heavy rain, although they can withstand heavy rain, so they should be used with reference to their functional level.

In addition to rain resistance, the company has started rating the cold resistance, stretch, and beautiful legs. According to Mr. Fujimoto of the Quality Control Department, the “Bikyaku Degree” is only an “in-house opinion,” and should be used as an indicator for the situation in which you want to express yourself.

Next spring, the company plans to add cold sensitivity, UV-protection, and storage degrees. As the company already has materials with sustained cold sensitivity of -10°C and UV protection for professional use, it will develop these materials as adult casual designs.
