Kansai Airport will pre-open a portion of the international flight security checkpoint on the 4th floor of Kansai International Airport Terminal 1 Building, which is currently under renovation, on September 3.
The three previous inspection stations will be consolidated into one. The number of lanes has been increased and longer smart lanes have been introduced to facilitate security checks.
The renovation work at KIX 1 Tamiami aims to expand capacity on international flights and enhance the airside area (area after security check), with a grand opening in spring 2025.
In the future, a new immigration checkpoint, commercial facilities, and an international lounge are scheduled to open as the gateway to the “Osaka-Kansai Expo” to be held in the same year.
