Suntory will complete the renovation of its Hakushu Distillery in September, which has been underway since 2023.
On September 1, “Hakushu Terrace,” a restaurant featuring local ingredients, will open. In addition to stone-oven pizzas made with ingredients from Yamanashi Prefecture, the restaurant will serve original cocktails of Suntory’s Hakushu single malt whiskey, which can only be enjoyed at this facility.
The concept of the restaurant is “a restaurant that resonates with the forests of Hakushu,” and diners can enjoy their meals in an environment surrounded by rich nature. The restaurant is open from 10:00 to 16:30. Closed during the year-end and New Year holidays and factory holidays. Reservations can be made on the Hakushu Distillery website from 10:00 a.m. on August 28.
In addition, “Hakushu Distillery Manufacturing Tour Prestige” will be newly established as a tour. The tour includes a video presentation in a place where visitors can feel the history of the Hakushu Distillery, interact with the distillers, and learn about “floor malting,” one of the quality improvement efforts. At the tasting, visitors can enjoy “Hakushu Forest Fragrance Highball” and “Suntory Single Malt Whisky Hakushu 12 Years Old”.
Tours are held on Mondays and Fridays (except New Year’s holidays and factory holidays). The tour runs from 11:30 am to 1:40 pm and takes 130 minutes. Participation fee is 10,000 yen. The first tour will be held on September 20, and applications for the lottery will be accepted from 9:30 a.m. on August 30 to 4:29 p.m. on September 3. With the establishment of this new tour, the “Hakushu Monozukuri Tour Premium” will be discontinued.
