Saitama City will begin offering a 2.8-km section of the Hasuda-Iwatsuki Bypass on National Route 122 from the Kagura intersection to the Hirabayashi Bridge intersection, with two lanes toward Hasuda. The road will open to traffic at 23:00 on September 30.
In the Tokyo direction, the section that had been operated with two-way traffic will continue to be operated with one lane due to the need for signage and guardrail switching work.
The Hasuda-Iwatsuki Bypass, National Route 122, is a 4-lane bypass road extending approximately 9.1 km from Leapdo, Hasuda City to Kagura, Iwatsuki Ward, Saitama City. It is being constructed to alleviate chronic traffic congestion and congestion on National Route 122 and surrounding roads, to strengthen access to the Iwatsuki Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway, and to strengthen the emergency transportation road network.
The target date for all lanes to be converted to four lanes is March 2025.
