Eyeglass brand Zoff released “Blue” and “Green” bifocal adjustable lenses that block 100% of ultraviolet rays on August 30.
Light-dimming lenses change color tone in response to the amount of ultraviolet rays to reduce glare. When exposed to ultraviolet rays outdoors, the lens changes to a colored lens, and returns to a clear lens indoors or in other places not exposed to ultraviolet rays. Therefore, they can be used as sunglasses outdoors and as eyeglasses indoors.
The company’s “Blue” and “Green” light-dimming lenses are high-performance UV420 lenses that cut harmful light up to 420 nm and 100% of ultraviolet rays. The company says that these light-dimming lenses, which combine glare and UV protection, are also ideal for preventing autumn sunlight from entering at an angle.
There are two refractive indexes to choose from: 1.60 and 1.67. For a refractive index of 1.60, the frame fee plus 12,100 yen; for a refractive index of 1.67, the frame fee plus 16,500 yen allows the lens to be converted to a light-dimming lens.
