The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the government of the Federated States of Micronesia for the “Pohnpei Port Expansion Project” in Palikir, Pohnpei, the capital of the Federated States of Micronesia, on September 3.

Business Objectives
This project aims to reduce congestion and improve safety at the Port of Pohnpei, the largest port in Micronesia, by constructing a new wharf for mooring fishing boats and cargo ships, thereby contributing to the improvement of marine traffic and logistics in the country.

Facilities] Quay (160m long, depth – 10m), apron pavement, access road (concrete pavement), container yard (crushed stone pavement)

Detailed design, bidding assistance, construction supervision

4,597 million yen
Scheduled Project Period
57 months
The project will be completed when the facilities are put into service (scheduled for April 2028).
