Okinawa “Shuri Castle Reconstruction Festival” to be held November 2-4. Ryukyu Dynasty Picture Scroll Procession/Special Tour for Shuri Castle Reconstruction, etc.

The Okinawa Churashima Foundation will hold the “Shuri Castle Reconstruction Festival” in Shuri Castle Park and on Kokusai-dori Avenue in Naha City from November 2 to 4.

On the 2nd, there will be the “Ryukyu Dynasty Picture Scroll Procession” and “Ryukyu Performing Arts Performance” which reproduce the procession of the king and queen of the Ryukyu Dynasty and the procession of the Chinese envoy “Sakuinsha”, etc. On the 3rd, there will be the “Koshiki Gyoretsu” which reproduces the procession of the king and queen of the Ryukyu Kingdom to the three temples under Shuri Castle to pray for national peace and a good harvest. On the 4th, the King and Queen will appear in front of the Bongsimmon Gate of Shuri Castle.

In addition, the “Ryukyu Dynasty Picture Scroll Procession” is accepting paid and free participants on its application website.

In addition, visitors can enjoy the “Shuri Castle Reconstruction Prayer Stage” with performances by various performers on the 2nd and 4th, “Shuri Castle VR Experience” on the 3rd and 4th, and “The Best of Ryukyu Awamori in Senzo” to introduce the charm of Ryukyu awamori at Senzo, where awamori was stored by the Ryukyu royal family on the 1st, in conjunction with “Awamori Day”.

On the 2nd and 3rd, a “Special Tour for Shuri Castle Reconstruction” will be held twice a day (at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.), allowing visitors to see the main hall of Shuri Castle, which is in the process of being reconstructed. Reservations must be made in advance by phone, with a maximum of 15 people per tour, and applications will be accepted starting October 17.

Traffic regulations will be enforced on Kokusai-dori Street from 12:00 to 15:00 on November 2 and from 12:30 to 20:00 on November 3 at Yamakawa Intersection to Toribori Intersection (Yamakawa Intersection to Touzo Intersection will be closed until 18:00). Traffic congestion is expected in the vicinity of Shurijo Park, and visitors are encouraged to use public transportation.
