Posted on 2024-09-102024-10-27 by Editor in Chief

IHG Hotels & Resorts operates 19 hotel brands with more than 6,300 hotels in over 100 countries. In Japan, IHG Hotels & Resorts currently operates about 47 hotels under seven brands from Hokkaido to Okinawa (as of March 2024). For this interview, we asked Masamiki Takamoto, general manager of Holiday Inn & Suites Shin-Osaka, what the area surrounding the hotel has to offer.

Name: Holiday Inn & Suites Shin-Osaka

Location: 1-7-31 Nishi-Miyahara, Yodogawa-ku, Osaka-shi, Osaka

–How did you come to work at Holiday Inn & Suites Shin-Osaka?

I joined a business hotel in Japan to make the most of my overseas experience and pursue a career in the service industry, but as my career progressed, I became interested in foreign-affiliated hotels and changed jobs. As I gained experience in various fields, I was fortunate enough to be appointed General Manager of the Holiday Inn & Suites Shin-Osaka in Shin-Osaka in November 2023 as a member of IHG Hotels & Resorts.

–What kind of hotel is it?

The hotel is located in Shin-Osaka, making it very convenient for travel not only to Osaka but also to neighboring prefectures. 126 of the 185 rooms are equipped with a kitchen, washer/dryer, and other amenities, making it possible for you to stay with us for an extended period of time without any inconvenience. You will feel as if you have returned to your own home during your stay at this homelike hotel.

–What is the unique experience of Holiday Inn & Suites Shin-Osaka?

Whether you purchase food from a nearby supermarket and cook in the kitchen or enjoy a relaxing soak in the large bathtub, the residence-like rooms allow you to experience the relaxation of home while traveling. We also have a self-serve server in the lobby serving wine and sake, which you can savor whenever you like. Enjoy a comfortable, extended stay at our hotel in Shin-Osaka and enjoy the Kansai area to the fullest.

–please let me know if you have any personal favorites tourist spots or restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel.

A 5-minute walk from the hotel, Shin-Osaka’s famous “Natural Hot Spring Hinata no Yu” is a recommended healing spot. There are many open-air baths, and among them, taking a bath while viewing airplanes from 9F above the ground is the best. It is open from 6:00 a.m., so a morning bath or sauna is also recommended. We also offer an overnight stay plan that includes a “Natural Hot Spring Hinata no Yu” bathing ticket, so that you can enjoy the natural hot spring in the city to the fullest.

–What restaurant menu do you recommend?

Café Hi! restaurant offers free refills of rice, bread, salad, and soup on all lunch menus. We recommend the fish lunch, featuring fish and seasonal vegetables, which is beautifully presented and elegant in taste, or the sumptuous steak-jyu, a generous portion of seared meat, available until the end of September.

–What souvenirs do you recommend?

We recommend that you try the cheesecakes from “Uncle Rikuro’s Shop” or the pork buns from “551HORAI”, which are standard Osaka souvenirs that are sure to please. At Shin-Osaka Station, the closest station to our hotel, you will find a wide variety of Osaka’s representative souvenir shops, from the standard to the most fashionable. It is very convenient to purchase souvenirs while using the Shinkansen or subway. Please stop by.
