The Shimokitazawa Merchants Association and I LOVE Shimokitazawa (Spiral) will hold the Shimokitazawa Curry Festival 2024 (Shimokitazawa Curry Fest) from October 10 to 27, 2012, where you can enjoy original curry from Shimokitazawa.
This year, the 13th event, 109 restaurants around Shimokitazawa Station will participate, offering original menus only available during the event, including the standard “Butter Chicken Curry” and “Keema Curry,” as well as the more unusual “Three Kinds of Curry: Japanese Dashi Curry, Japanese Curry Curry, and Spiced Curry with Autumn Fish and Ume Plum Seed”. For a fee of 500 yen, customers can participate in a stamp rally in which they can win prizes related to curry by the number of dishes they have eaten.
On October 11, the first opening ceremony in five years will be held under the elevated Inokashira Line at the east exit of Shimokitazawa Station, with Setagaya Ward Mayor Nobuto Hosaka, Shimokitazawa Curry Festival PR Ambassador Monko Ichijo, and representatives of the “Metropolitan Area Crossing Curry Marathon” project, a collaboration of curry towns in the metropolitan area in attendance. On the 12th, “Geinin Tokkyu Fest,” a gathering of new comedians will be held at Minnano Rest Space (2-30 Kitazawa, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo) to further enliven Shimokitazawa, which is also known as a sacred place for comedy.
