MUJI BASE OIKAWA (524-1 Odashiro, Otaki-machi, Isumi County, Chiba Prefecture), a community experience lodging facility renovated from the former Old Aikawa Elementary School, will open on October 1. Reservations for accommodations are now being made through Airbnb.
MUJI BASE is the third MUJI BASE in Japan, following MUJI BASE KAMOGAWA (Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture), which opened in August 2023, and MUJI BASE TESHIMA (Dojo-cho, Shodo-gun, Kagawa Prefecture), which will open in April 2024. (Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture), and “MUJI BASE TESHIMA” (Dojo, Kagawa Prefecture), which will open in April 2024.
In addition to two buildings and three rooms (each with a capacity of 10 people when rented out) that make use of classrooms, there is also a store that can be used by non-guests, a coworking space (16 seats), a coin-operated laundry, and a library. In addition to MUJI products, the store also carries products unique to the area.
As community experiences, harvesting at the adjacent farm, stargazing, and workshops (beekeeping, miso and soy sauce making) are also being planned. In the common space for rent, visitors can enjoy barbeques and pizza making.
