NEC receives order for kiosk terminals to make immigration and customs declarations face-passing. To be introduced at Haneda 2 and 3 Tamiami, Narita 3 Tamiami, and Kansai Airport 1 and 2 Tami.

On September 19, NEC announced that it had received an order from the Immigration Bureau and Customs for the installation and related system design of a joint immigration and customs kiosk terminal.

By entering the necessary information into the terminal installed in the entry line in advance, the system will ensure smooth entry procedures.

The kiosk terminal has been in operation since January 31, and allows visitors to register their entry record and customs declaration information on the “Visit Japan Web” to obtain a QR code, scan the QR code and passport (IC compatible) at a kiosk terminal along the entry route, take a picture of their face, and have their fingerprints read (fingerprint reading is not available for Japanese nationals). The QR code is then read by a kiosk terminal on the entry route, and the photo is taken and fingerprints are read (fingerprints are not read for Japanese nationals).

The terminals scheduled for installation under this procurement are Terminal 2 and 3 at Haneda, Terminal 3 at Narita, and Terminals 1 and 2 at Kansai International Airport.
