Ikaros Publishing Co. released the October 2024 issue of “Fukui no Railroad Journey,” a travel and railroad supplement, on September 18, 2012. 96 A4-size pages, priced at 1,760 yen.
With the cooperation of Fukui Prefecture, which is now accessible from the Tokyo metropolitan area without transfers thanks to the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen line, we will introduce travel plans using railroads and buses, as well as tourist spots where visitors can enjoy nature and history.
The opening graph is by Ryusei Onishi of the male idol group Naniwa Danshi. He was photographed at stations and trains of three railroad companies in Fukui (Fukui Railway, Echizen Railway, and Happiline Fukui). Onishi is known as a railroad enthusiast, and the photos of him wearing the men’s uniforms of the three companies as well as his personal attire are also a highlight.
In the middle of the magazine, actress Yumiko Takino, who also loves trains, makes an appearance. The magazine features a long interview with Takino, who has visited Fukui Prefecture twice in private since the Hokuriku Shinkansen began service, as well as an illustrated book of uniforms worn by the three railroad companies for women.
YouTuber Shioneru, who is popular for her travel-themed videos, also took on the challenge of reporting on a trip for the first time. She describes her one-stroke trip from Tokyo to Fukui on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, enjoying popular spots by train and bus, and then returning to Tokyo from Tsuruga on the limited express “Shirasagi” and Tokaido Shinkansen.
