JR East Cross Station Foods Company will release “Chicken Bento” (900 yen), which will celebrate its 60th anniversary in October, in a limited design package.

The long-selling ekiben, featuring fried chicken and tomato-flavored rice, will be available from October 1 to the end of September 2025 in a package featuring the 60th anniversary logo as well as a nostalgic logo from 1964, when Nihon Shokudo first started selling ekiben. Ekiben-ya Matsuri Grandsta Tokyo and other ekiben-ya outlets will be selling the product.

In addition, the “Chicken Bento Deluxe” (1,380 yen), supervised by the executive chef of Tokyo Station Hotel, will be available from October 1 to March 31, 2025. Based on the well-known chicken bento, it is a fusion of Japanese and Western tastes, topped with new ingredients such as bamboo shoots cooked in Japanese dashi with basil sauce, tomato sauce with onion and carrot blended with Edo sweet miso as a secret ingredient, chicken Tsukune with cartilage bones, green beans, and bell pepper. In addition, for the first time since its launch, the restaurant has adopted a heatable container to ensure that the food can be eaten warm. It will be sold at “Ekiben-ya Matsuri Grandsta Tokyo” at Tokyo Station, “Ekiben-ya Ting” at Shinjuku Station, “Ekiben-ya Ueno Central Gate” at Ueno Station, and “Ekiben-ya Yo-Ikimon Ecute Omiya” at Omiya Station, etc.

On the first day of sales, original 60th anniversary sticker stickers will be distributed at Ekiben-ya Matsuri Gransta Tokyo stores. Ekiben-ya Matsuri official X (@ekibenyamatsuri) will conduct a follow & repost campaign from October 1, 9:00 to October 31, 23:59 to win a “Frozen Ekiben Assortment 6-serving Set” for 60 winners drawn by lottery.
