JTB Launches New Travel Products for Launch of “Kurobe-Unazuki Canyon Route

Posted on 2024-09-302024-11-03 by Editor in Chief

JTB, in cooperation with local businesses in the Kurobe City and Kurobe-Unazuki area of Toyama Prefecture, will release travel products in early October for the opening of the entire Kurobe Gorge Railway line and the start of a new tourist route, the Kurobe-Unazuki Canyon Route.

The tour will be held from mid to late November, and will include a guided tour of the history and topography of the Kurobe-Unazuki area in order to enjoy the canyon route more deeply. Details will be announced at a later date.

The Kurobe Gorge Railway trolley car is a major tourist resource in Unazuki Onsen. Due to the rock fall caused by the Noto Peninsula earthquake, the entire line to the final stop, Keyakidaira Station, cannot be completed by the end of 2024, and the trolley is currently in operation between Unazuki Station and a section of Nekomata Station.

In conjunction with this, the start of the Canyon Route, which was scheduled to begin in 2024, has been postponed. When the route opens, the Kurobe Gorge Railway and the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route will be connected, making it possible to tour a wide area of Toyama Prefecture.
