Bushcraft, wood-chopping, and cooking! Japanese survival knife “TAFU” made by a wild blacksmith in Noto, Japan Pre-sale on Makuake

Posted on 2024-10-032024-11-03 by Editor in Chief

Fukube Kaji is selling the Japanese survival knife “TAFU,” which makes full use of Noto’s wild blacksmithing techniques, through December 30 on Makeake.

The company is offering a 25% discount (29,700 yen) on the regular sales price of 39,600 yen, including a Makuake discount. Products will be delivered between October and the end of January 2025.

TAFU is a double-edged survival knife that can be used for bushcraft, chopping firewood, as well as for cooking, such as processing fish and cutting meat. The knife is made of “Hon Sanpai Zukuri,” which is Yasugi Steel Blue Paper No. 2 steel sandwiched between stainless steel for long-lasting sharpness. The handle is made of water-resistant oak wood.

Forging is done by Fukube Forge, which has been in operation since 1908, and a “Pochispa” set that includes a sharpening delivery service is also available for returns.

Measuring 27 x 2.7 x 2 cm and weighing 220 g, it comes with a leather case hand-sewn by Tochigi leather craftsmen and a magnesium rod for ignition.
