Haneda is the second hub in the world to operate the 777, which now has a four-class configuration (Narita and Kansai Airlines use the Airbus A380), and Mr. Sethi stressed that this “shows the importance of the Japanese market to Emirates. We are committed to providing a high quality travel experience for our Japanese customers,” he said.

With the industry’s largest multi-billion dollar investment, the company’s Airbus A380 followed by a completely redesigned 777 with 6 or 8 seats in First Class, 38 seats in Business Class, 24 seats in Premium Economy Class, and 256 seats in Economy Class, will enter service on the Haneda – Dubai route (EK 312/313) on the Haneda – Dubai route on September 1. With this service, the popular Premium Economy Class is now available on all three routes serving Japan (Narita/Kansai/Haneda).

On October 7, Emirates held a press conference at the Bulgari Hotel Tokyo to commemorate the launch of its new Boeing 777 aircraft, equipped with Premium Economy Class and a new Business Class, at Haneda Airport. Mr. Satish Sethi, President of Emirates Airlines Japan, took the stage.

Premium Economy seats on the refurbished Boeing 777 are in a spacious 2-4-2 arrangement. Each seat is 19.5 inches wide (1 inch = 2.54 cm) with a maximum seat pitch of 40 inches. The seats offer cradle-like seating comfort with six adjustable headrests and legrests and a recline that tilts up to 8 inches.

The airline also features a luxurious design with cream-colored leather seats with stitching and glossy wood-grain tables, a 13.3-inch LCD screen with up to 6500 programs on the “ice” in-flight entertainment system, and enhanced conveniences such as a power outlet for PCs and tablets, two USB power outlets for PCs and tablets, two USB ports, and RJU headphone jacks in all seats.

Meanwhile, the new Business Class seats are arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration. In addition to providing additional privacy, all seats now have direct aisle access. The seats are a generous 20.7 inches wide and recline up to 78.6 inches, and can be turned into a comfortable flat bed for sleeping.

Each seat has a personal minibar, power outlets and multiple charging ports, improved seat controls, and in-flight entertainment on a large 23-inch HD screen. In addition, the cabin design is as functional and luxurious as the Airbus A380, with cream leather seats, champagne trim, and light wood grain panels.

In addition, each class offers a high-quality amenity kit and in-flight meals. The airline is committed to providing comfortable service for long-haul flights between Japan and Dubai.

Emirates currently operates one flight each daily from Narita/Haneda/Kansai on its Japan route, and according to statistics released by the Dubai government in August, “Japanese travelers are steadily growing at +16% over the same month in 2019, despite the impact of the weak yen,” said Mr. Sethi. He explained that connecting flights from Dubai to Paris, Barcelona, Rome, and Sao Paulo are also popular, and the outlook for 2025 is also positive.

In addition, Premium Economy Class is more comfortable than Economy Class and more affordable than Business Class, which is the main attraction of this class, so many passengers use it for leisure purposes. As expected, 38% of Pre-Eco passengers are couples, 28% are solo travelers, and 11-12% are families. Also, many business travelers are upgrading to Pre-Eco, and it is attractive that everyone can choose, without being restricted to a certain class”.
