Hoshino Resort will reopen the onsen ryokan “Kai Hakone” (230 Yumotochaya, Hakone-cho, Ashigarashita-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture) on August 1, 2025. General reservations are scheduled to be accepted in mid-April 2025.
The inn is located in Hakone-Yumoto and all rooms have a river view. It features a large half-open-air bath that looks like a landscape painting, and the interior of the building and guest rooms are decorated with traditional marquetry work.
Under the new concept of “Hakone Gokokochi no Yuyado, a hot-spring hotel steeped in the history of the Tokaido Highway,” a new relaxing public space centering on a teahouse will be established in the courtyard. Inspired by the teahouses that were places of rest and relaxation where travelers stopped to relieve their fatigue during the Edo period, guests can freely spend time with their families and friends after arrival and dinner.
Some of the other guest rooms will be remodeled with designs that incorporate the culture derived from travelers on the Tokaido Highway, and new content will be prepared for the “GOTOCHIRAKU” experience activities.
