Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten opened its first tourist information center, the Nara Fudo Information Center, on October 24.
The “Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten Nara Main Store” located on the first floor of the commercial complex “Deer Monkey Fox Building” (22 Ganrin-in-cho, Nara City, Nara Prefecture), which opened in 2021 as the site of the company’s founding, has been fully renovated. The information center is a space of about 10 tsubos (3.5 square meters), and will offer the charms of Nara through five different contents.
The “Fudo Guide Board,” with its lively illustrations, offers tips for enjoying Nara under five themes: “Season,” which is updated seasonally; “Umami,” which introduces food culture; “Shin,” or new local; “Techniques,” or crafts; and “Sake,” which is unique to the birthplace of Japanese sake.
The “Fudo Guide Card” is a collection of about 100 places recommended by staff members who live and work in Nara. Visitors can create their own original guidebooks by freely combining sightseeing spots such as restaurants, sake breweries, workshops where visitors can experience crafts, and bookstores that promote local culture.
In addition, there will be a sales corner with approximately 80 seasonal and standard souvenir items, a “communication counter” where visitors can enjoy conversations with staff, and free “museum tours” twice a day to introduce the highlights of the Shika Sarukotsu Building.
