Shimane Prefecture will launch the “Izumo-Himinozaki Tourism Support Campaign” on November 1 to support the Izumo-Himinozaki area, which was severely affected by the heavy rains in July.

The special offer is a 3,000 yen discount per person per night or 3,000 yen worth of souvenirs when you stay at an eligible accommodation in the Himizaki area, and is applicable for check-outs from November 1 to March 31, 2025. The offer is applicable to stays of 3,300 yen or more.

In addition, “Izumo Himinozaki Machiaruki” coupons, which can be used at restaurants, souvenir stores, etc., will be sold for 1,000 yen per coupon, with a face value of 1,500 yen (three coupons of 500 yen each). The coupons can be used from November 1 to March 31, 2025.

Sales will begin at 10:00 a.m. on November 1 at the Himigozaki Visitor Center, “Suubenia Izumo” next to Izumo City Station, the Shimmon Street Tourist Information Center, and the Shimane Museum of Ancient Izumo History (Information Exchange Room). The book will be available at Sightseeing Center Izumo and Enmitsu Honpo North and South branches from November 18. A maximum of 15,000 copies will be sold, and each person can purchase up to 10 copies at a time.

On the first day of the campaign, an opening event will be held in the vicinity of the Himinozaki Visitor Center. Shimanekko, Shimane Prefecture’s tourism character, and the Governor of Shimane Prefecture will be present, and coupon purchasers will receive Shimanekko 15th anniversary commemorative goods. The event will be held on November 1 from 9:45 to 15:00.

In addition, Izumo City will launch “Operation Hinomizo Reconstruction” in November to boost Hinomizo in winter, when the number of tourists tends to decrease, in cooperation with local businesses. The “Izumo Soba and Gastronomy Trip,” a LINE stamp rally in which visitors can win accommodation coupons and specialties by drawing lots, is planned to rediscover the charm of the Himizaki-area, including the Geopark and sunsets, and to enjoy sightseeing and lodging even in winter.

Other events such as the Izumo Soba Festival, a night visit to the Himosaki-jinja Shrine, Lighthouse FES Himosaki, and an Izumo Work Experience Tour with a cab driver are also scheduled. For more information on the Operation Himozaki-Reconstruction and other seasonal events, please visit the Izumo Tourist Association’s official website, “Izumo Guide”.
