Ryohin Keikaku will open the “Re PAPER ROOM,” a concept room embodying the circulation and regeneration of materials, in one of MUJI HOTEL GINZA (3-3-5 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) on November 4. The room has a capacity for 1 to 2 persons (double bed), and the room rate starts at 44,000 yen per night for 2 persons.

MUJI HOTEL aims to be a showcase of local culture, a place to stay where visitors can enjoy events and workshops related to local food and culture while staying in rooms produced by MUJI.

Re PAPER ROOM focuses on the recyclability, durability and lightness of paper. It is a cross between upcycled interior design and art. The building materials and furniture that can be used for a long time include a wall board made of 100% notebook scraps and a bench made entirely of reinforced cardboard.

In this initiative, the original upcycling was carried out using scrap wood from the streets of Ginza. As an amenity available only to guests, original bags made from rice bags from a rice wholesaler were provided. In the rooms, rugs made from kimono scraps from a long-established kimono store and lights made from acrylic fixtures from a jewelry store add color.

In addition, an original artwork by sculptor Mitsuru Koga, combining cardboard and board, will also be on display. Only guests can purchase their favorite works in limited quantities.
