Air Self-Defense Force’s “Blue Impulse” to fly over Toyota Stadium; display flight at WRC; limited collaboration goods on sale

The Rally Japan 2024 Executive Committee has announced the details of the Blue Impulse display flight to be held on November 21, the first day of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) “Forum8 Rally Japan 2024.

The Blue Impulse, a specialized team of the Air Self-Defense Force, will open the event by flying mainly over the western sky from Toyota Stadium West Event Plaza (7-2 Sengoku-cho, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture), the venue for the rally competition. The route will depart from Komaki Air Base at 13:40, smoke past JR Ena Station around 13:50, and fly over Toyota Stadium, with the display flight at the venue starting around 14:00 for about 25 minutes. Twelve programs are scheduled, including Delta Low Pass, Sakura, Big Heart, and Sunrise.

Toyota Stadium ticket holders will have a special viewing area where they can listen to commentary by the Blue Impulse pilots while watching the display flight. A free viewing area will also be set up in Shirahama Park (Shirahama-cho, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture).

A talk show and autograph session by the pilots will be held at the West Event Plaza before the display flight. In addition, limited edition collaborative goods from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and Forum8 Rally Japan 2024 will be on sale. The lineup includes T-shirts (3,800 yen), tote bags (2,500 yen), patches (2,500 yen), stickers (2 types, 500 yen each), and a secret item (1,200 yen) only available at the event.

Prior to the event, Takamoto Katsuta, the only Japanese driver competing in the top category of the WRC, and Kosuke Tsurugo, an Air Self-Defense Force pilot from Toyota City, released a collaboration video in which they experience each other’s machines.
