In October 2024, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) formulated the “Strategy for Climate Change Initiatives in Agriculture and Rural Development Cooperation” to promote “Agriculture and Rural Development” in the JICA Global Agenda.
In recent years, natural disasters such as frequent floods and droughts caused by climate change have shaken not only agricultural production but also the foundations of rural life. In order to realize “human security,” it is an important and urgent issue to promote sustainable agricultural and rural development cooperation in developing countries and to respond to climate change.
This Strategy has been formulated to clarify the impact of climate change, which is expected to become even more pronounced in the future, on the agricultural and rural sectors and the impact of projects on climate change, as well as to provide direction for JICA officials to promote specific initiatives. From now on, various measures will be implemented based on this Strategy.
In addition, we have published the text of the Action Strategy and its English translation on our website, as shown in the related link below. Reference materials on climate change measures will be posted on the related pages as they become available.
