Sun Frontier Hotel Management has announced plans to open Tabino Hotel lit Sakata (3-1-15 Nakamachi, Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture), its first hotel development and operation in Yamagata Prefecture, in December 2026.

Tabino Hotel lit” is a brand positioned one rank higher than “Tabino Hotel” for business and tourism, and is the third facility in Japan following Miyakojima City in Okinawa Prefecture and Matsumoto City in Nagano Prefecture.

The 11-story building will have a total of 173 rooms, including double rooms (approx. 15.5 m2), deluxe twin rooms (approx. 27 m2), and rooms for long-term stays equipped with kitchens, washing machines, and microwave ovens.

On the top floor, there will be a natural hot spring open-air bath with a view of Mt. Chokai, one of Japan’s 100 most famous mountains, which straddles the border with Akita Prefecture, a large bath with sauna, and an observation lounge with massage chairs for post-bathing relaxation.

For breakfast, the hotel will offer a buffet breakfast that takes advantage of the delicious rice and various agricultural products grown in the Shonai Plain and seafood from the Sea of Japan to make it healthier, locally sourced, and fun to choose.

In addition, the hotel will be equipped with a relaxing lobby lounge and a meeting room for business meetings, and will offer enjoyable services such as “Happy Awa~”, where you can taste beer and soft drinks in the evening, “dashi chazuke”, a dish of soup stock made with our special dashi, and morning coffee.

The new hotel will open as the first step in a regional development project that the company, Sakata City, and the Sakata Chamber of Commerce and Industry have been discussing with the aim of regional revitalization. The area around the proposed hotel is expected to attract tourism and business demand due to the concentration of historical and cultural spots, restaurants, markets, and industrial parks around the port of Sakata.
