I am in Phu Quoc, a resort in southern Vietnam, on a Vietnam Airlines inspection tour. The lodging for the day is the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa.
The hotel was designed by renowned architect Bill Bensley. The hotel was designed as a tribute to Lamarck University, an imaginary and venerable university, and the guest rooms also have a distinct personality. From the front desk, you will feel like you are in a different space with the university-inspired space and authentic books and other items on display. The room I stayed in was the “Emerald Bay Front King,” and the furnishings were very sophisticated.
The unique dining venues, such as the “Pink Pearl” restaurant, are also noteworthy. The signature cocktails at the Department of Chemistry Bar are a luxurious way to spend an evening. The spa is also well equipped, and the “Chanterelle -Spa by JW” is a must experience. For dinner, we enjoyed traditional Vietnamese cuisine at Tempus Fugit.
