Metropolitan Expressway to close the Yaesu Line to traffic for about 10 years from April 2025. The KK line is also to be discontinued in preparation for the construction of the new central ring route.

The Metropolitan Expressway will close the Expressway Yaesu Line to traffic for a long period of time from early April 2025 to FY2035 due to the construction of the undergrounding project of the Nihonbashi section and the new Kyobashi connecting road. In addition, the company announced that the Tokyo Expressway (KK Line) will be discontinued in early April of the same year.

In addition to the ongoing Nihonbashi section undergrounding project, the Metropolitan Expressway will begin construction of the Shin-Kyobashi connecting road in FY2025. After the construction is completed, in FY2035 (planned), a new central ring route will be created, and the KK line, which will be discontinued, will be regenerated and utilized as a pedestrian-oriented public space.

More details on the closure and discontinuation dates and times will be available on a special website. Until the new central loop route is in place, we are advising the use of the central loop line (inner and outer loop).
