Travel Campaign in Niigata Prefecture “Gold Mine on Sado Island” registered as a World Heritage Site; up to 5,000 yen off JTB’s accommodation plans

Niigata Prefecture is conducting the “Koicha: Gold, White, and Silver Niigata Campaign to Commemorate the World Heritage Registration of the Gold Mines of Sado Island” until February 28, 2025! Golden and Silver Niigata Campaign” until February 28, 2025.

The program is designed to promote the “gold mines of Sado Island,” which are now registered as a World Heritage site, throughout Japan, and to attract visitors to the prefecture as a whole and encourage them to tour around the island.

JTB has posted sightseeing information and model courses on a special website, and is currently selling approximately 150 plans at about 100 facilities. Hotel Mancho, a hot spring ryokan in Sado City, offers “Enjoy melt-in-your-mouth Sado Beef with two kinds of Sado salt… ,” and Hotel New Otani Nagaoka in Nagaoka City offers “Autumn/Winter ‘Niigata’ Ippodo Umaimon with 2 meals! The grilled black throat is delicious! You can search for plans in each area of the prefecture.

Limited coupons are also distributed through JTB and Rurubu Travel. For those plans with “Sado Island Gold Mine World Heritage Commemoration” in the plan name, a coupon for a 5,000 yen discount per person (limited to Sado area, minimum stay 10,000 yen) and a coupon for a 2,000 yen discount per person (for areas other than Sado, minimum stay 4,000 yen) can be obtained in advance and applied at the time of reservation.

In addition, a special plan that includes a “Sado Island Enjoyment Coupon,” a JTB original coupon (normally sold for a fee) that allows one person to use each of the 12 facilities, including popular restaurants and sightseeing experiences, is also available.

The campaign is scheduled to start in December or later at Jalan.
