DQ Walk Real Event, the 3rd edition is “Greenland, Kumamoto Prefecture”!

Dragon Quest Walking vol. 3 Kyushu, a two-day event to enjoy the real world of “Dragon Quest Walk” (DQ Walk), a location-based game application inspired by Dragon Quest, was held on November 16-17, 2012.

The first event was held at Expo ’70 Commemorative Park in Osaka, attracting about 50,000 visitors over two days. The second event was held at Fujikyu Highland in Yamanashi, and despite the fact that a fee was charged from this event, approximately 30,000 people visited the event over the four-day period.

The venue for this year’s (the 3rd) event was Greenland, an amusement park in Kumamoto Prefecture (Midorigaoka, Arao City, Kumamoto Prefecture). The site area is approximately 550,000 m2 (the equivalent of 11 Tokyo Domes!). The huge amusement park with more than 80 kinds of playground equipment is transformed into the world of DQ Walk only during this period! At six stamp spots in the park, there are events and attractions that make it seem as if you can meet monsters in real life, and there are many other ways to enjoy the world of the game.

In addition, various items can be earned through the stamp rally on the game. Although it takes a good 20 minutes to complete one lap around Greenland, it was a great way to not only receive items, but also to enjoy the other benefits of the DQ Walk: light walking and exercise.

Note that the author was relatively experienced in the game, having “participated in the past two real events,” “existing special level 73 or higher, new position (Tenchi Raishi) level average 65,” and “acquired 89% (168) souvenirs on his own,” so he decided to write the article while playing.
