Gora Hanadan will open a sushi restaurant supervised by Keiji Nakazawa of the famous Edo-mae sushi restaurant Sushi Takumi at the Gora Hanadan Fuji, an accommodation facility scheduled to open in July 2025.
Fuji, a World Heritage Site, on a 50,000 m2 site (Susuri, Oyama-cho, Suntou-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture). The hotel will have a total of 42 guest rooms, the same number as the Gora in Hakone. All rooms will be suites with either an open-air bath or a bath with a view, and will offer a fusion of luxury, wellness, and Japanese history and tradition.
Sushi Takumi has gained popularity both in Japan and abroad for its style of alternating between nibbles and nigiri that takes advantage of aging, and opened “Sushi Takumi Waikiki” in 2016, “Terakoya Sushi Takumi” in Azabudai Hills in 2023, and “Sushi Takumi New York” in 2024.
This time, the restaurant will open at Gora Kadan Fuji as part of the restaurant dining menu, which offers choices other than kaiseki cuisine. Commenting on the new sushi restaurant, Mr. Nakazawa said, “The ultimate happiness is to be able to enjoy the best hospitality and hot springs in Japan at Gora Kadan, followed by Sushi Takumi’s Edomae Sushi while viewing Japan’s highest mountain, Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan. This is a space that can only be experienced and felt here.
