JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with President Ferdinand Marcos of the Republic of the Philippines in Manila on November 20.
At the beginning of his speech, President Tanaka expressed his condolences to the Philippines for the damage caused by the typhoons that hit various parts of the country, and expressed JICA’s desire to continue to actively contribute to the country’s development.
In response, President Marcos thanked JICA for its unwavering and steady cooperation in various sectors in the Philippines.
President Marcos and President Tanaka then had a broad and constructive exchange of views on ongoing cooperation projects related to disaster prevention and infrastructure, as well as the peace in Mindanao and other issues, while taking into account the results of the recent “Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Reduction” held in Manila.
