TOPPAN will launch the Fire Resistant Bag in January 2025, which was planned, developed, and created based on feedback from ANA flight attendants in the field.
The product was developed to protect passengers, crew, and aircraft from the risk of in-flight ignition or rupture, in light of international reports of ignition and smoke emission due to aging deterioration and poor quality of lithium-ion batteries.
The materials used are FSfilm, a firefighting film developed by TOPPAN that reacts to heat at the time of a fire and releases an aerosol that has an extinguishing effect, and fire-resistant bags provided by Kikuchi Sheet Industry. This allows electronic equipment that shows signs of abnormal heat generation or deformation to be evacuated temporarily and safely to prevent the spread of fire.
It has already been installed on all ANA, Air Japan, and ANA Wings aircraft, and will be marketed to the airline industry and other industries in the future.
