JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) High Commissioner Filippo Grandi at JICA headquarters on November 28.
President Tanaka and High Commissioner Grundy shared their recognition that they will continue to strengthen their collaboration to steadily advance efforts related to the pledges expressed at the 2nd Global Refugee Forum (GRF) held in Geneva last December.
They also exchanged views on the situation of refugees and host communities in the Middle East and other regions, and confirmed their commitment to addressing refugee issues in their respective regions, based on a common understanding that the Humanitarian, Development and Peace Nexus (HDP Nexus) is more important than ever. The participants confirmed that they will continue to work on refugee issues in their respective regions with the common understanding that the Humanitarian, Development and Peace Nexus (HDP Nexus) is more important than ever.
JICA will continue to cooperate with UNHCR and contribute to solving refugee problems through development cooperation.
