Sado Kisen has begun offering a “limited-area travel coupon” as a return gift for Sado City hometown tax payments.
Coupons can be used when traveling to Sado City for a stay of one night or more. They can also be used to pay for the entire trip, including lodging, round-trip transportation, and local sightseeing and experiences. The coupons are valid for five years from the date of issue.
Applications can be made through “Furusado”, a tax payment website of Sado City, Niigata Prefecture. After confirming payment of the donation, an information letter regarding the use of the coupon and a coupon will be sent by registered mail.
Reservations for the trip can be made at any one of Nippon Travel Agency’s stores in Tokyo and Osaka, or by phone or e-mail. The designated stores will be informed at the time the coupons are sent. Reservations made via the Internet, such as through the website of Nippon Travel Agency, are not eligible.
To settle the trip fee, the coupon must be brought or sent to the receiving store. If a cancellation fee is incurred due to trip cancellation, the cancellation fee shall be settled in cash or by credit card, and the coupon shall be returned.
Detailed conditions of use can be found in the information document sent with the coupon. In addition, from October 1, 2024, the coupon will not be reimbursed for accommodation facilities exceeding 50,000 yen per person per night if the company operating the facility has facilities outside of the prefecture to which the municipality belongs.
