Tokinosumika, located on the Gotemba Plateau in Shizuoka Prefecture, is a resort complex with an area of approximately 9,800 tsubo. It offers a wide variety of lodging facilities, including hotels, lodge-type lodges, and glamping, as well as hot springs and activities.
The Tokinosu Illumination, held from October to March, is particularly popular. At the 2nd International Illumination Awards, Tokinosu Illumination won the 3rd Prize for Excellence in the Illumination Event Category and the Award of Excellence in the Technology Category (Fountain Laser Show).
The course from the 300-meter-long “Tunnel of Light” to the “Magical Church” with projection mapping tells a story, and at the end of the course, it would be good to see the fountain laser show at the “Royal Hill” and the dance collaboration show if time permits.
Admission is free for the Tunnel of Light, and there is a fee for the Magical Church and the Royal Hill; you can make reservations in advance through the website, and I use my smartphone to make reservations and enter after leaving my car in the parking lot.
The light tunnel, tree, and other objets d’art are so dazzling that the color of the light changes with the passage of time. The fountain laser show is also very powerful, with the highest point in Japan at 150 meters. Visitors can borrow umbrellas to enjoy splashing in the water.
Free shuttle buses run from Mishima Station and Gotemba Station. By car, it takes about 25 minutes from the Gotemba IC and 10 minutes from the Susono IC. On-site parking is free, so it is best to park close to the desired facility.
Since it is not far from the center of Tokyo, it is a recommended spot to have dinner at a restaurant after viewing the illumination, and then return home after bathing in a hot spring.
