Airbnb announced on December 10 the most popular spots in 2023 in snow areas for skiing and other winter sports, as well as recommendations for areas to watch in winter 2024.
According to the company, of the 195 snow areas registered on Airbnb in Japan, the most popular during the 2023 season were Niseko in Hokkaido, Hakuba in Nagano Prefecture, and Fujikawaguchiko in Yamanashi Prefecture, all of which are well known both in Japan and abroad.
In particular, Iiyama and Nozawa Onsen in Nagano Prefecture, Makari and Rusutsu in Hokkaido, Myoko in Niigata Prefecture, and Fujiyoshida in Yamanashi Prefecture received high review ratings.
In addition to these popular areas, they are also looking at the following snow areas this winter based on the increase in bookings based on a comparison of the number of overnight stays during the period of December 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025 and the number of nights during the period of December 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024.
